Finding things to do in Georgia is hardly difficult. In fact, what may be more difficult than finding things to do in Georgia might be narrowing down your list. Below, you’ll find information about some of the most popular tourist attractions in Georgia and the most fun things to do in Georgia.

Atlanta Zoo

Atlanta Zoo is the name of the largest zoo in Georgia, located of course in Atlanta. As one of the most popular things to do in Georgia, the Zoo Atlanta has hundreds upon hundreds of animal species to view. The zoo is open seven days a week, during the day, and is located in Grant Park. After touring the zoo, you can also check out other Grant Park attractions, including Confederate Fort Walker and the Cyclorama painting.

Stone Mountain

One of the major tourist attractions in Georgia is Stone Mountain, where travelers can climb or drive up to a huge stone representation of Robert E Lee, Jefferson Davis and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. The images have been carved into the cliff-face and can be climbed in about 45 minutes. A cable car whisks visitors to the top who would like to avoid the climb.

Underground Atlanta

Underground Atlanta is the name of a section of restored buildings on a four-square block in downtown Atlanta. The area is a major hub for shopping and entertainment, and is one of the most fun things to do in Georgia for shopping and dining enthusiasts. While here, travelers can also stop by Zero Mile Post, which marks the city’s birthplace.

Georgia’s Barrier Islands

Although travelers may not typically associate the state of Georgia with island travel, a set of lovely islands can be found along the coast of Georgia, and are actually among the most popular tourist attractions in Georgia. Georgia vacation spots for the locals are generally found here, and a number of activities, from golfing to swimming, can be enjoyed on some of the barrier islands.

Georgia Aquarium

Open throughout the week, the Georgia Aquarium is actually the largest aquarium of its type in the world. A visit to the aquarium is certainly one of most interactive and fun things to do in Georgia. Home to more than 120,000 animals representing over 500 species from around the world, the aquarium draws thousands of visitors each year.

World of Coca-Cola

Though it may sounds bizarre, the World of Coca-Cola museum is one of the most popular Georgia vacation spots and a major tourist attraction to the city of Atlanta. The museum houses memorabilia and multiple floors of information all about the history of the soft drink Coca-Cola.

High Museum of Art

Also located in Atlanta, one of the most popular Georgia vacation spots, is the High Museum of Art. The building itself is enameled in porcelain, and the art that lies inside is equally stunning. Well worth a visit, the museum is open 7 days a week.

Atlanta Botanical Garden

Yet another popular Atlanta attraction is the Atlanta Botanical Garden. The various flora and fauna sections of the garden, such as the Fuqua Orchid Center, continue to delight visitors.

Centennial Olympic Park

The Centennial Olympic Park was built for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, and offers everything from free weekly concerts and a dancing water fountain to a memorial quilt hung in remembrance of the victims of the 1996 Olympic bombing.

Juliette Gordon Low’s Birthplace

For anyone not familiar with Girl Scout lore, the Victorian-home-turned-museum was the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts. The home can be toured throughout the week.
