Grand Isle Louisiana is tucked into a smattering of islands in the south, just beyond the coastline. It is three hours from Baton Rouge and two and half hours from New Orleans. Grand Isle State Park is ideal for all sorts of activities. Photographers love the diversity of the landscape and the rich wildlife throughout the park. Basic sites with electric are a good base for exploring the area further and enjoying the warm ocean breezes and striking night sky. Boaters can launch from the park and enjoy great fishing. Though Grand Isle Louisiana is fairly remote compared to other urban areas like Lafayette and Shreveport, there are many conveniences to choose from. Dining is excellent and a taste of fresh, local seafood should definitely be tried. Shopping is available at department stores and smaller gift shops and stores. There are several grocers to shop at as well as many fast-food chains for a quick bite. With a good selection of amenities, a nice choice in Grand Isle hotels, and loads of things to do, it's no wonder the island population of visitors far outnumbers the locals during the summer.
