Louisiana has so many nature sights and nature preserves, it’s often referred to as the “Sportsman Paradise”. With all the availability of such great camping in Louisiana, you might want to rent an RV and ride across the entire state!

Shreveport / Northern Louisiana:

This area of Louisiana is known as the best area for sportsmen, as the camping often incorporates fishing, hunting and other outdoorsman activities.

The Shreveport / Bossier KOA is a great place for either RV parking, tent camping or cabin rentals. Its one of the RV campgrounds in Louisiana that offers great amenities like free wireless internet, swimming pool, hot tub and fishing at no extra charge!

Lake D"Arbonne State Park in Farmerville, LA is one of the many campgrounds in Louisiana that’s in a national park. Situated on a beautiful lake, there are several piers for fishing and boat ramps where you will visitors and locals launching for a day of incredible fishing. Central Louisiana / Crossroads:

North of Lake Charles is the Toledo Bend State Park. This is another of the campgrounds in Louisiana that sits atop a scenic waterfront view. They even have deluxe cabins for rent that sleep up to eight people. The Sam Houston Jones State park offers the best in Louisiana campgrounds including RV hookup, traditional tent camping, improved campsites with electricity and water and several cabins for rent. The area is preserved so that it has become a haven for natural wildlife, especially birds. There are boat rentals nearby and for the serious boater, two boat launches that lead to waterways stretching into the nearby Gulf of Mexico. There are three hiking trails, including the old stagecoach road that leads to interesting sites along the river, making this an exciting location for camping in Louisiana. There are many nearby attractions as well including the Creole Nature Trail National Scenic Byway a mile driving or walking tour with a bird sanctuary and wildlife refuge. On this trail you can try fishing, or the great Louisiana pastime of crabbing, and strolling the nearby beaches.

New Orleans Area:

New Orleans is home to some of the best RV campgrounds in Louisiana. There is even the luxury Class A French Quarter Motorcoach resort among many others that are close to the attractions of the nearby French Quarter.

If you want the more traditional Louisiana camping with tents sights, you will have to go into the suburbs west or south of New Orleans. A real treat is the Fairview Riverside state park with premium and improved camp sites as well as the 20 unimproved tent campsites. Near the Tchefuncte River, you can find the Otis House museum, which is on the national Registry of historic places. You can also find boating, fishing and crabbing at these Louisiana campgrounds.

Baton Rouge / Plantation Country:

There are several RV parks in and around Baton Rouge, but for the traditional camping try the Tickfaw State Park. This is one of the campgrounds in Louisiana where you can experience a swamp, hardwood forest and the Tickfaw River.
