Bossier City has become Northwest Louisiana's hotspots for gaming and so much more. The sister city to Shreveport has a a character all its own. With a fantastic entrainment district and a full range of hotels and restaurants, you'll find plenty of places to enjoy in this city along the Red River.
Several Bossier City casinos provide hot gaming action and other entertainment options. Perfect for few hours and entire vacations, the riverboat casinos draw visitors to Bossier City. With world-class dining, 24-hour entertainment, and the chance to spend time with Lady Luck, the casinos are the places to be. All of the casinos are close together, with easy access from Interstate 20, on both sides of the Red River.
The Horseshoe Hotel & Casino (pictured) offers more than 1,500 slots machines and more than 50 table games. As one of the Bossier City hotels, the Horseshoe is an option for overnight stays on short and long vacations alike. A variety of stay-and-play packages include everything needed for a well-rounded and fun vacation, including dining and overnight stays.
You'll also have the chance to add on some of the more relaxing things to do in Bossier City Louisiana: spa treatments and golf. Top-name entertainers take to the stage at the CMT Crossroads Bar, which also offers karaoke contests and DJ entertainment. The Horseshoe has sister properties all over the U.S., including Harrah's in New Orleans.
Harrah's Louisiana Downs has been one of the most popular things to do in Bossier City Louisiana since it opened in the 1970s. Today, the site hosts live thoroughbred racing as well as simulcasts, which visitors enjoy in air-conditioned comfort. It's also home to one of the Bossier City casinos with more than 1,400 slots and 24-hour-access.
Offering more than 30,000 square feet of gaming, another one of Bossier City Casinos, Diamond Jack's Casino Resort, is jam-packed with gaming options. You can test your luck at your choice of 32 table games and 1,400 of the loosest slots around Bossier City. Choices are plentiful, too, when it comes to dining. The four restaurants serve up different specialties—Mexican, lighter fare, steaks, and the requisite buffet—all with top notch service. You also could choose to stay at one of the area's luxury hotels, complete with 570 first-class rooms, appointed with luxury linens, and whirlpool baths. Hotel guests also enjoy the outdoor pool, spa, and fitness facilities when they're not on the gaming floor.
The other Shreveport Bossier City casinos, Boomtown and the Eldorado, also offer a wide array of gaming and entertainment options. Because they're all so close, it's easy to include more than one in your vacation plans.
Casinos are far from the only things to do in Bossier City. You'll also find a mix of attractions, restaurants, and shopping to match all kind of interests. It would be a shame to visit without taking a stroll along the Louisiana Boardwalk. This entertainment and shopping district meanders along the Red River, connecting the casino district to outlet shopping and riverfront dining.
After dark, the boardwalk is even more amazing when both cities light up. The Long Allen Bridge, spanning the Red River, is light with a dazzling collection of fiber optic cables and neon lights.
Mardi Gras, one of the biggest events of the year, is celebrated with gusto in Shreveport and Bossier City. All year, you can join in the fun at the Ark-La-Tex Mardi Gras Museum. The colorful displays feature costumes and floats from parades past. During Mardi Gras season, in January and February, there's a wide range of fun events you can enjoy.
Across the river in Shreveport, you can explore the wonders of earth and the skies above at Sci-Port, the Louisiana Science Center. Fun for visitors of all ages, the hands-on museum is full of interactive exhibits and daily demonstrations. An IMAX dome and an planetarium keep the wonder going.
