The Atlanta Botanical Gardens are located in Piedmont Park in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. The Atlanta Botanical Gardens cover more than 30 acres of the park, and feature an area of exotic and local flowers, as well as plants from all around the world. For anyone who loves flowers and plants, or even for travelers who simply want a nice quiet place to take a mid-vacation stroll, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens are a real treat.

Although there is a fee to enter the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, it is not excessively expensive, and Atlanta Botanical Garden tickets can be purchased daily at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens tickets booth. Discounted Atlanta Botanical Garden tickets can be found in the Atlanta CityPass, as part of the discounted ticket booklet for travelers who plan to see multiple attractions in Atlanta. Also included are the High Museum of Art and the World of Coca Cola.

Various conservatories are found in the gardens, each with their own theme, and each supporting different types of plants and flowers from around the world. The Tropical Rotunda, for instance, houses ferns, cycads, orchids, carnivorous plants, and more. The Dorothy Chapman Fuqua Conservatory houses rare and endangered tropical and desert plants, including a water lily pond and a globe showing regions of the world where plant life is endangered. Throughout the entire park, there are also a collection of 12 different species of poison dart frogs hopping about in and among the plants.

In addition to the conservatories, there are also two separate wooded sections to the garden. In the wooded sections, visitors will find most of the native plant species, growing tall in their natural habitat. A favorite among families is the children’s garden, which features climbing structures, fountains, and even lunch, which is served April through October, from Tuesday to Sunday. An arid desert house is located near by, with plants that are designed to look like stones, aloes and more.

Atlanta Botanical Garden events include such delights as the African violet show, Tuesday Tours, and the Orchid show. Atlanta Botanical Garden events are held throughout the year, and often time the Atlanta Botanical Garden events draw hundreds of locals and visitors. The botanical gardens are open from April until October all year, from Tuesday until Sunday, 9am – 7pm. Tickets can be purchased online in advance, or in person at the main ticket booth.
