Syracuse New York

Syracuse is a busy and modern city in New York, with a population of around half a million. It is located right on Erie Canal. Although the city is relatively old, it maintains a youthful, college town feel because of Syracuse University. Syracuse travel is filled with visiting the shops and galleries of the Armory Square area, visiting Syracuse shopping centers, scoping out live concerts and other Syracuse events, watching a Syracuse baseball game, or learning about the history of New York at the Erie Canal Museum.

Syracuse New York has several museums worth visiting. The Erie Canal Museum is housed in a building that dates back to the canal era of the 1850s. It was once a weighing station for ships. The museum is devoted to telling the story of the battles between Syracuse New York politicians and everyday citizens before construction was started in 1810. Many of the citizens were against building the Erie Canal, which links the Great Lakes with New York City. The museum is open everyday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Although there is no price for admission, a donation is suggested.

Another museum worth visiting is the Milton J Rubensein Museum of Science & Technology. This large museum is popular for Syracuse travel because of its hands-on interactive exhibits as well as a domed IMAX theater and a planetarium. Although a museum probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Syracuse shopping, the Milton J Rubensein Museum of Science and Technology has a great gift shop that sells anything from posters to authentic artifacts. The museum is open Wednesday thru Sunday from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for the exhibits and $9 for the IMAX theatre, making it an affordable option for Syracuse travel.

Attending Syracuse baseball games has been a popular pastime for years. Syracuse New York was once the home of two separate major league baseball teams named the Syracuse Stars. These Syracuse baseball teams were both popular teams in the late nineteenth century. Although Syracuse New York no longer has any major league baseball teams, there is a minor league team that plays in the city called the Syracuse Chiefs. Attending a Chiefs game is one of the most exciting Syracuse events to attend during the summer.

Shopping is one of the most popular things to do in Syracuse no matter what the weather is like outside. Some of the Syracuse shopping centers you may want to visit include Carousel Center, which is the largest mall in NY, and the Great Northern Mall. If you’re looking for a more authentic experience, Armory square, located in the downtown area of Syracuse New York, is full of locally owned shops. Syracuse events, such as art festivals, also take place in the downtown area.

With a rich history and a variety of museums and attractions, Syracuse New York is a great place to spend a weekend getaway or an extended vacation.
