Colorado mountain biking and Colorado trail biking are excellent ways to explore the spectacular scenery throughout the state. There are hundreds of paved and unpaved roads suitable for Colorado cycling. The jeep roads, trails and single tracks are able to accommodate mountain Colorado mountain biking.
The majority of the Colorado mountain biking routes are located in the public lands managed by the US Forest Service. For a rugged Colorado mountain biking experience, consider riding through the San Juan Forest, which is also a great place for Colorado hiking and camping.
If you liked skiing in Summit County in the winter, you will love it for Colorado mountain biking and Colorado trail biking in the summer. The combination of unique terrain, awesome scenery, and an interesting mining heritage makes Colorado a haven for all types of cyclists. Copper Mountain, Breckenridge and Keystone provide ski-lift service if you do not feel like hauling your bike up the mountain. Additionally, the free Summit Stage Bus service has bike racks on all of its buses. Summit County also has a number of excellent bike shops where bike rentals are available. If you are staying in Colorado Springs, Ute Valley Park is excellent for Colorado cycling. It's a highly scenic environment that is filled with trees, rock formations and rolling meadows. Many people first learn how to mountain bike in this area. If you want to explore the Pikes Peak area, the Pikes Peak Greenway runs through Monument Valley Park and ends in Dorchester Park. The trail is almost flat, making it an excellent Colorado cycling trail for beginners.
Colorado trail biking, as well as casual Colorado cycling can also be enjoyed in the state's urban environments. For example, Chatfield State Park in the Denver metropolitan area has a diversity of ecosystems along with an extensive Colorado biking trail system. The Denver Greenway Trail begins at Chatfield and follows the South Platte River north through the city. Cherry Creek State Park is home to a natural prairie environment of gentle, rolling hills that are perfect for Colorado cycling. It is located 10 miles southeast of metro Denver. The park encompasses 3,900 acres on Cherry Creek. It is also near the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, which is one of Colorado's major, shopping destinations.
