While there are a lot of hotels and vacation rentals in Daytona Beach to choose from, some visitors choose to go camping instead. There are quite a few campgrounds in Daytona Beach and the surrounding area, so finding one that suits your taste and preference shouldn't be a big challenge. Whether you are looking for a relatively rustic Daytona Beach campsite or one that has all the bells and whistles, you'll be in luck. For those who want to be close to the ocean, beach camping in Daytona Beach is possible, and it's understandably popular.

Daytona Beach camping can be enjoyed year round, and if you choose to camp here during the winter months, you can expect fewer mosquitoes and less rain. As summer approaches, not only do the temperatures go up, but so does the mosquito count. Regardless of when you decide to go Daytona Beach camping, bringing bug repellent with you is a good idea. You'll also want to bring some sunblock, especially if you are planning on doing some beach camping in Daytona Beach.

If you want to camp on the beach in the Daytona Beach area, then head down to the Canaveral National Seashore. This beautiful park is home to some of the best beaches in the state, and you can camp on Klondike Beach. Because of the fact that this beach is located in the park's backcountry, the camping is limited and you will need to obtain a special backcountry permit, which doesn't cost very much. You can only go beach camping at the Canaveral National Seashore between November 1 and April 30. Sea turtles come ashore to nest in the Daytona Beach area from mid May to late October, and beach camping at the Canaveral National Seashore is prohibited during this time. You can camp year round on some of the park's designated islands. Just remember that the facilities here are limited to restrooms.

In addition to the Canaveral National Seashore, those who are looking for a good Daytona Beach campsite will want to consider Tomoka State Park. A popular place to go camping, this park is also known for its fishing and canoeing opportunities. Hiking the park's trails is popular as well, as is visiting the curious Tomoka Mounds and Middens archaeological site. If you want to stay overnight at Tomoka State Park, there are full facility campsites here, as well as youth camping programs. The fees for a campsite here include electricity and water. Should you be planning a get together of some kind at the park, there is a pavilion that you can rent for a reasonable fee.

Should you be driving to Daytona Beach in an RV, the Daytona Beach Campground is an ideal place to park for a while. Of all the campgrounds in Daytona Beach, this is one of the most complete. There are no less than 224 campsites here, and the 50-foot swimming pool is a hit with kids especially. In addition to numerous sites and a swimming pool, the Daytona Beach Campground also features a general store for supplies, a playground for the little ones, laundry facilities, and LP gas. Cable TV is even available here, as is internet access! The Daytona Beach Campground can be found at 4601 Clyde Morris Blvd., and it will have you close to all the great area attractions.

When looking for a good Daytona Beach campsite within easy reach of the Daytona International Speedway, the Daytona Beach KOA is worth considering. One of the newer campgrounds in Daytona Beach, this KOA is only ten minutes from the city's renowned race track, which means that it's also only ten minutes from the Daytona Beach International Airport. There are 350 sites at the Daytona Beach KOA, as well as a swimming pool, a playground, a recreation hall that can be rented out for group events, and convenient RV storage areas. Cable TV is also available here at no extra charge, as is internet access, and telephones are available if you need them. Whether you need a tent or an RV site, there's a site here for you, though you'll want to book ahead when the top local events are going on. Booking ahead is always a good idea when it comes to Daytona Beach camping, and it's essentially a must when things like Bike Week and the Coke Zero 400 are going on.
