The lively city of Fort Lauderdale is a leading destination among travelers not only in Florida but also in the entire United States, and as such, there is an endless list of things to do, including tours, activities at the beaches, and Fort Lauderdale events. Throughout the year, there are Fort Lauderdale festivals and events constantly taking place, and each season offers its own celebrations that attract a variety of tourists and spark diverse interests. Attending one of the events in Fort Lauderdale during your vacation is a charming addition to the itinerary that will allow you to mingle with the locals as well as other tourists and get to know the unique culture of the city.
The Fort Lauderdale events and festivals hold an equally valuable place on the list of things to do as the various attractions, and each season offers something special. South Florida winters are among the most pleasant of seasons in the United States, and this is a great time to get out to the Las Olas Art Fair, held in January, which is a combination of food, music, and international arts on Las Olas Boulevard. The popular demand is such that this Fort Lauderdale festival has even developed a sequel in February and, sometimes, March.
Another extremely popular event, which occurs through the entire month of February and into March, is the Florida Renaissance Festival and Crafts Village (pictured), where visitors are transported back in time to another part of the world when jousting and chivalry were the norm. If you're visiting in this season and are fond of Mardi Gras, then you will certainly enjoy Fat Tuesday on Hollywood Beach, featuring live music and good food. The Orange Blossom Parade and Rodeo and the Seminole Tribal Fair are a couple of other important Fort Lauderdale festivals that take place in February.
If you are in town during the spring months, you may want to take in the Hollywood St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival in March or the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival in April. A great deal of Fort Lauderdale events take place in the spring, including the Ocean Fest, HispanicFest, the Wine and Culinary Celebration, all in April, and the Las Olas Wine and Food Festival, and the Cajun/Zydeco Festival in May.
During the summer months, from June through September, the number of events in Fort Lauderdale is lower due to the rainy weather and high temperatures, but they pick up again in October with the Air Fair at Pompano Beach and the Hollywood Beach Oktoberfest. The Broward County Fair, the Hollywood Jazz Festival, and Promenade in the Park all take place in November, when the weather is cooling down and the number of tourists is increasing. December is one of the most celebrated months in the area, with the Ocean Dance, the Candy Cane Parade, and Christmas on the Beach.
To really get to know the exquisite life emanating from the canals, rivers, and coastal waters of this beautiful city, visitors should experience one of the delightful events in Fort Lauderdale. Each season offers a unique set of Fort Lauderdale festivals, and throughout the year, visitors can choose from a variety of these events to add a bit of entertainment to their vacation. Checking the events calendar ahead of time can ensure that you find the perfect activities to match your vacation.
