As is true of the other Jacksonville beaches, Neptune Beach is separated from the city of Jacksonville by the Intracoastal Waterway. A small coastal community, Neptune Beach isn't exactly a bustling place, which is what some visitors like about it. Should you be looking to explore the Jacksonville area and don't want to stay downtown, then basing yourself in Neptune Beach is always a good way to go. In addition to being close to all the great Jacksonville attractions, you'll also be even closer to some fine beaches when staying in Neptune Beach, which is another advantage.
You can find Neptune Beach nestled between Jacksonville Beach to the south and Atlantic Beach to the north. These coastal towns, or Jacksonville Beaches as they are also known, are essentially Jacksonville suburbs, and while they maintain a certain level of independence, they are also very much tied to the larger city to the near west. There are only around 7,000 people who call Neptune Beach, Florida home, and you can be sure that these people are proud of their small community. There might not be a lot in the way of commercial development here, but that's part of the charm.
Neptune Beach vacations can involve a lot of things, and as one might imagine, spending time on the beach is part of the plan for most. The beach in Neptune Beach is long and sandy, and more often than not, the water conditions are great for swimming if you are up for it. For those who are without beach gear on their Neptune Beach vacations, nearby Jacksonville Beach boasts the most in the way of shops where you can rent or buy things like chairs, umbrellas, and even surfboards. You can also check out the Beaches Town Center, which has plenty of shops to explore. As a side note, Jacksonville Beach is also where you will find the Adventure Landing Water Park, which is an excellent attraction that families won't want to miss when the weather is hot.
Neptune Beach offers more of a residential feel than the surrounding beach communities, so it's an excellent place to escape to when you are interested in a relaxing Florida beach getaway. While kicking back on the beach with a good book will be the focus of some Neptune Beach vacations, enjoying an array of water sports is what others will be after. Should surfing be on the itinerary, you will be happy to know that the beach in Neptune Beach is one of the best surfing spots in the area. If you're not up for surfing, enjoying a swim or doing a little boogie boarding are some options to consider. The Jacksonville area is an excellent fishing destination, and you can always schedule some fly fishing excursions on Neptune Beach vacations if you enjoy angling. Other activities that you can enjoy when visiting Neptune Beach and the Jacksonville beaches area include horseback riding on the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, and biking. In other words, you shouldn't have difficulty finding things to do.
When looking for a place to stay in Neptune Beach, you can turn to the local hotels, most of which feature some very appetizing rates. There aren't a lot of Neptune Beach hotels to choose from, though you shouldn't have problems securing a room regardless of the time of year. When value is the name of the game, the Days Inn Neptune Beach begs some consideration. While it might not be on the beach, it is hardly a mile away, so it won't take long to get to the sand. Perks like free high-speed internet access and a free breakfast help to make the Days Inn Neptune Beach one of the more attractive discount Neptune Beach hotels.
Understandably so, many people who are planning Neptune Beach vacations look to stay right by the water. One of the more attractive oceanfront Neptune Beach hotels is the Seahorse Oceanfront Inn, which is also quite affordable. While the rooms are fairly basic and the amenities relatively limited, you can't argue with the Seahorse Oceanfront Inn's location. Regardless of where you stay in Neptune Beach, you're bound to enjoy an excellent getaway. When you're not hanging out at the beach here, you can walk over to Jacksonville Beach to shop or look for nightlife. Trips to nearby Jacksonville are recommended as well, and you might even head up the coast to check out other destinations like Talbot Island and Amelia Island. Don't forget your golf clubs, as the Jacksonville area is an excellent Florida golf vacation destination.
