Vancouver golf has attracted the attention of some of the game's great players. Some have come to play a round in some of the most scenic settings in Canada while other have returned to design courses. Even even you only play golf as a hobby, you can still enjoy these expert-designed courses. The golf season correlates with the warm weather, usually running from April to October. Some golf courses in Vancouver open all year, and since the region enjoys relatively mild winters, it's possible to play no matter what the calendar says.
Whether you're looking play a round or two or enjoy a complete Vancouver golf tour, you'll experience the same great scenery. In the town of Richmond, home to the Vancouver International Airport, the Mayfair Lakes Golf Course is known for its views of the Coast Mountains in one direction and the Pacific Ocean in another. Guests golfers can enjoy a tee-time at the semi-private Mayfair Lakes Golf Course. At par 71, the course stretches out for a length of 6,641 yards, encompassing lush green fairways and challenging water elements. Thanks to the immaculate upkeep, Mayfair Lakes has gained a reputation as one of the best golf courses in Vancouver.
You have many choices of where to enjoy a Vancouver golf tour beyond Mayfair Lakes. The Morgan Creek Golf Club welcomes the public to experience its championship course designed by Thomas McBroom. As one of the most scenic golf courses in Vancouver, Morgan Creek has garnered many top awards and hosted top tournament events. As you hit the links, you will see amazing views of Mount Baker and the Golden Ears Mountains. After the last hole, you can take a break a the wine bar/restaurant, browse the pro shop, and sign up for a clinic to help improve your game.
Thomas McBroom also designed the Fraserview Golf Course, one of the most scenic golf courses anywhere. Tucked in a green forest overlooking the magnificent Fraser River, the course attracts golfers of various abilities. At par 72 and 6,700 yards, Fraserview has been voted one of the best public courses in Canada. Further along the river, the par 71/72 McCleery Golf Course is known for its challenging water holes hazards and narrow fairways. It would be easy to include both of the courses in the same vacation.
Two pitch-and-putt places have been attracting golfers of all skill levels, everyone from kids wanting to have some fun to serious golfers who want to work on their swing. The course at Queen Elizabeth Park, a fun addition to the Vancouver golf scene, is surrounded by towering weeping willow trees and expansive city views. You also experience the Vancouver golf scene when visiting Stanley Park, one of the great urban parks on par with New York's Central Park. Both of these family-friendly pitch-and-putts are open during daylight hours between February and November.
While a Vancouver golf tour itinerary would be challenging and interesting to stay near the city center, you'd really be missing out by not making the trip to Whistler. Maybe best known for its skiing, this four-season resort is a favorite golf destination. Four major courses are found at this resort, including one designed by Jack Nicklaus.
